by Oliver Kube (03.02.2009) 2005, these young gentlemen from Oklahoma City released their debut "Extreme behavior" - this Post Grunge/Alternative Rock output sold more than 3 million copies just in the US. Will their second record sell that well, too? Well, it’s at least questionable. One of the problems is the glossy production: Brian Howes (Puddle of Mudd) did the job - somehow, the tracks sound constructed. The debut had edges and rough corners, "Take it to the limit" sounds uninteresting, streamlined and too smooth. Which unfortunately goes for the songwriting either. All songs are ok, meticulously, diligently (too diligently?) composed, and thus sound like any other ordinary song you’ve heard before - no surprises. "Loaded and alone": an arena anthem, "Last kiss goodbye": a Power ballad, "Up all night" - a tough groover which should pep you up - and then, the whole thing starts anew. Not very much soul left here...
