by Riccardo Manazza (07.10.2007) It is widely know that Soilwork is capable of making great albums. But that the Scandinavians would introduce such a killer…. "Sworn to a great divide" is the return to brutal, and yet, groovy riffs, big aggressions, and very high dynamics. Furthermore, the majority of songs is provided with really catchy refrains. "Your beloved scapegoat" is such a wonderful piece of music. Stamped by a monstrous fierce riff that blows your skull away, this track is rounded off by the awesome vocals of BjΓΆrn "Speed" Strid. The cool chorus is obligatory. "The pittyburgh syndrome" is a high speed bastard that will drive every banger to madness. The guitars are deadly. Soilwork may not re-invent themselves but this guitar wall is a murderer. The greatest thing about this album, however, is the fact that despite all brutality it also features fine nuances of groovy melodies. With this album, Soilwork make perfectly clear that they won’t move an inch from the top – despite all shabby copyists.
