Excellent Service

The Finnish Battlelore invides to another journey through Middle-Earth, whose orchestral Gothic Metal is likewise from Elfhymne and the grim sound of Uruk Hai affected. An album to dream of and a worthy tribute to J.R.R. Tolkien.

by Markus Wosgien (04/03) It's tremendous how big the influence of J.R.R. Tolkien and his Millenium-epic, "Lord of the Rings" was on the metal scene. Numerous acts wrote concept album after his books, gave themselves names from it or, like in case of Battlelore devoted completely to the epic and go as far as calling their musical style just Tolkien Metal. On "Sword's song", the Finns heavily progress in comparison to the debut, "...Where the shadows lie" and now reach the level they wanted to achieve. Magic elves vocals and resultant choirs is what characterizes their music. The counterpart is the powerful voice of Uruk Hai. Very anthemnic and orchestral they sing about the "Attack of the Orcs", let the "Horns of Gondor" roar and finally reach the "Starlight kingdom". They will soon put a spell on you, too and experience the battle for Middle Earth with them. A very pompous and variable kind of Γ¬Gothic Metal to be settled somewhere between the early works of Theatre Of Tragedy and Moonspell. Radiant and beautiful.
