by Matthias Mineur (null) "Are you ready for a ride with me", Marta Jandova asked in the first big Die Happy-hit "Supersonic Speed". The answer can only be: Yes indeed, we are! Because what the German newcomers deliver on their debut album is reason for the highest hopes. Not only the powerful opening of the album, where great Metal grooves like in "If", "Go for it", or "Violent dreams" cause your arms and legs some itching are asking for applause, but also the tiny little pearls in which Die Happy take back the speed a little and intone impressive ballads. "Happy now" is such a song, where the intensity of the song is not reached by powerful guitar-riffs, but by the deep, melancholic foundation of it. "5 pm" is another example. This band is at home on both sides, knows how to really rock but also how to hauntingly play quieter tunes causing your heart to tickle. Did I mention that the mentioned Marta Jandova is such a thoroughly pleasant human being? No? Well, I did it now. And to return to the initial question: Yes, of course I would like to .. ehem.. go for a ride!
