by Jürgen Tschamler (21.07.2008) This is a rerelease (the classical two-pack) of the 1990 and 1991 albums done by the British Death Metal bunch. "Subconscious terror" (1990) was produced by no lesser than Napalm Death’s Mick Harris. Barney is now the well-known vocalist of ND, but was then still with Benediction. The album contains pure speedy Death Metal, and five bonus tracks of similar calibre. 1991, "The grand leveller" came out and took the same line as its predecessor: relentless Death Metal - all Splatter fans rejoiced. This lesson in brutality features two bonus tracks which fit nicely to the original material of "The grand leveller". With these two records, Benediction established themselves as one of the best British Death bands. The price for this double CD package with bonus tracks is cool, the music brutal and straight - go get one!
