15.Never give up (Rage Race)
by Jürgen Tschamler (02.03.2010) Rage strut their stuff on their 25th band anniversary: "Strings to a web" is a versatile, rough, but also refreshing album - it seems almost incredible that this band has already been around for 25 years! The first four songs have only one motto: pedal to the Metal - after that speedy beginning, some orchestral parts are thrown in, just to relax the old aching neck... "Empty hollow" shows another facet of the band: after a hefty start, the track becomes a sophisticated musical gem - this is a potential hit. In spite of the complex arrangement with classical character and progressive elements, this song also has a rough side to it. The band sticks to this recipe in the following title track - and that's when you really notice that Victor Smolski is a great axe man: the extremely progressive composition is among the musical highlights of this release. Sit back, listen, and enjoy!
