16.I don't want you ...
by Manuela Liefländer (April 2004) "Ladies and gentlemen, this is the moment you all have been waiting for..." These words introduce "Straight Flush Ghetto", the third album of the Bones. And in fact, their symbiosis of 50s/60s Rock 'n Roll and Punk combined with psychobilly is definitely unique. Already with the opener, "Spit it out", the Swedes wrote their own hymn. This song is the absolute highlight of the album, is infectious, catchy and very danceable. But of course, this isn't the limit of this band's potential. "Do you wanna", the second song on the album, with a chorus that reminds me of Californian surf punk is the perfect cruise song for the convertible. "Half of nothing" enhances this feeling onto the next level and brings in some wanderlust. Listening then to "Bottlecry Salut" with vocals quite reminiscent to the Rock'n'Roll icon Elvis you're almost on your way to Graceland. Result: The Bones are far more than "only" a party band! (Manuela Liefländer - April 2004)
