In 2003, Neal Morse surprisingly declared that he found Jesus and that he would have to go new musical ways. Spock's Beard, not only the most successful but also the most influential and most creative prog rock band of their generation seemed at their creative end. After some (admittedly a bit longer) time of reorientation, on their third album after the split, the remaining members have finally freed themselves from the influence of their ex-singer and composer. Because their hasn't been any more variable work ever in the band's history, lead by drummer Nick D'Virgilio now in a sovereign and self-secure way. From the 17-minute epic "As far as the mind can see", featuring both Blues and Soul influences, to the simply awesome piano ballad, "Hereafter", from the dreamy "All that's left" to dirty 70s-hardrock ("Is this love") - these guys definitely do not have to wait for a reunion anymore. And neither have the fansβ¦
