by Matthias Mineur (null) If there's a price for the coolest band of our days, kit would be Queens Of The Stone Age - beside Spiritual Beggars, of course. Their dry Stoner Rock, shifting between Blues, retro and Metal back and forth, sweats out fat guitar riffs out of every pore. The new album, "Songs For The Deaf" pays tribute to its name and doesn"t stop for the loud and heavy tunes, either, unfolding their esprit loud and noisy. "Give me some more, give me some more" they whimper in the opener, "Millionaire". Sure that is what we wish for, too! Following is the through MTV and alike well known "No One Knows". As comical as the video clip is also the sing itself: bulky, almost awkward, Queens Of The Stone Age combine here Black Sabbath-attitudes with a Punk chorus that even sounds like Krautrock (especially Percewood's Onagram). Incredible!
