by Markus Wosgien (07/03) The sinister End Of Green have just released their promising new album "Last night on earth" when at almost the same time the previous album "Songs for a dying world" is being resurrected. Due to distributional changes the album has been unavailable for quite some time but now the Gothic scene finally gets another chance to relive this piece of music. Even today "Songs for the dying" still offers ì menacing and straight rock-tracks resembling the incredible live potential ì the band has to offer. No matter if melancholic ("Only One"), dragging ì "I hate" or smashing (Motor", "Godsick") - End Of Green understand to ì convince their listeners. The depth which "Death in veins" radiates still ì sends shivers up my spine. Although all 4 longplayers have their very own ì special ways to fascinate the devoted listener, "Songs for a dying world" ì might resemble End Of Green's best release. It is by all means a classic and the digipack additionally contains the Type O Negative cover "Black No.1".

Seemingly out of the nothing come these Swedish bandmembers and release a ì brilliant third album. "Songs for a dying world" will soon occupy your player for ì a while, yet it can't be pigeonholed at all. The songs combine quite ì fluently different elements of Alternative, (New) Metal, Gothic and Doom ì Metal, Independent and Hardcore, but also classic songwriter rock. A really ì great mixture that matures through the listening by both its loveable ì artistic shyness and its exhibitionist decisiveness to an interesting and ì catching release. Not only the way of singing bears some resemblance to the ì newer Pyogenesis records. Also some interesting parallels to Type O Negative ì can be heard in the songs of "Songs for a dying world", which represents a ì nice contrast to their own accents. End Of Green reveals a lot of artistic ì potential - I'm sure there will be a lot more to come! (Markus Eck - ì 02/04)
