by Markus Eck (12.08.2009) Once again, these US daredevils serve us their explosive mix of red-hot aggressive Hardcore bits and smoother Southern Rock parts. Vocalist Matt Mullins and his boys have gone and done a very versatile studio debut: "Sleepwalking" includes some impressive tempo changes and complex song structures - the hard work in the rehearsal room definitely has paid off. The ten tracks, some of them heavily leaning towards Rock'n'Roll, are always exciting and intoxicating. New bass man Cory Elder is a great support for the dynamic axe duo Kellen McGregor and Ryan Bentley - so, Memphis May Fire are provided with a remarkable sound wall on "Sleepwalking", which is the perfect surrounding for drummer Jeremy Grisham's rhythmic ambushs. A plus: when the Texas five start getting melodic, you get some real catchiness as a perk.
