by Oliver Kube (29.01.2009) Did you dig Foreigner, Bad English or Giant at the end of the 80s / beginning of the 90s? Then Iβm sure the name Tall Stories rings a bell - the New Yorkers released their debut 1991, and I bet it was among your faves then. Rejoice, classic Melodic Rock fans: the quartet has reunited (it is the original line-up with Steve Augeri who also fronted Tyketto and Journey for a while) and presents us with "Skyscraper", their second album. "Stay" or "Tomorrow", for example, are brilliant, vintage AOR material, with a new twist to the sound. This is further emphasised by (to name just three of them) the campfire song "Pictures of summer", the Country ballad "You shall be free", or crisp "River rise" which is packed with interesting sound experiments and could be sailing under the flag of Alternative without any problem. In a nutshell: "Skyscraper" is a versatile and exciting album for all fans of timeless Rock.
