by Benedikt Niederschmid (04/02) Drowning Pool can't make up for the mass of rubbish caused by the release of ì rashly released records in the New Metal-genre by tattooed New Metal-punches ì in the last months. Yet, the Texan quintet from Dallas takes the rest of the ì remained Zeitgeist by the balls and releases a truly great album. ì Faultfinders will criticise deep tuned guitars, a roaring singer and gloomy, ì apocalyptic lyrics, but if you listen carefully, you will see that Drowning ì Pool are much more sensible than many of their competitors. Musical gestures ì don¦t seem to be artificial, often it becomes clear that these guys really ì come from the rock genre. Furthermore, shouter Dave Williams really does an ì excellent job. And because the band likes that, too, music and singer come ì together as a homogenous whole - the concept seems to be right. So if you ì want noise with melody, check out Drowning Pool.
