by Oliver Kube (19.07.2007) The idea was ingenious when the band was founded in 2001, and it is still: Beatallica play Beatles-cover in (early) Metallica-sound with a singer who sounds so authentic as if the good old Hetfield himself would stand behind the mic. Furthermore, the song names, lyrics, and in parts also the melodies are being enriched by elements typical for the Metal-Kings. The result is a collection of such beautiful creations, like the extremely fast "… and justice for all my loving", the gloomy "Blackened in the U.S.S.R.", "Helvester of skelter" or the unbeatable title track. For legal reasons, Beatallica could so far only offer their songs as downloads. Yet, Metallica-boss, Lars Ulrich was so thrilled by the musicians’ enthusiasm acting with pseudonyms, like Jaymz Lennfield and Kliff McBurtney that he engaged his lawyer to clear the rights with owners of the Beatles compositions. So, after two online EPs, "Sgt. Hetfield's Motorbreath Pub Band" is finally the first regular album of the band. Thank you, Lars!
