How extreme can a death metal band sound, really? The Canadians Kataklysm clearly answer this question with their latest output "Serenity In Fire". With their new drummer Martin the hyperblast-sound was catapulted into a new dimension. This guy is incredible, probably the fastest heads-thresher in the universe, with blast-beat parts that take your breath away. Already the opener "The Ambassador Of Pain" makes clear that the quartet has produced something big with "Serenity In Fire". The sound is absolutely tight and fat, the guitar-riffs merciless and the songs are just breathtaking. Each song is a killer, no fillers. "For All Our Sins" featuring guest vocals by Peter TΓ€gtgren surprises with some fat old school riffs, "Blood On The Swans" or "10 Seconds From The End" are supersonic high-speed shells. Fans of "In Shadows And Dust" will love groovers like "As I Slither" (the first single!), the title track reminding me of "Where The Enemy Sleeps..." or "The Tragedy I Preach". Really big Death Metal art! (Patrick Schmidt - 04/01)
