    Whatever it takes

by Marcel Anders (null) For more than 10 years in the business, P.O.D. have never had it easy. The rock fraction smiled at them because of their Christian background, the Christian league considered them too heavy and too progressive. A true dilemma. Especially because P.O.D. were put in simple shelves, like "Nu Metal" or "Rap-Rock" - even though they have proclaimed the complete mix of styles long before Rage Against The Machine, Korn and Faith No More but still remained standing in their shadows. Until now. Because with their second major album, this seems to finally change. On the one hand because P.O.D. have seen the breakthrough in the States, on the other hand because this has little to do anymore with the usual "Crossover"-sounds. The boys around singer Sonny are rather leading modern rock music onto a totally new level. By unstoppable aggressiveness combined with great melodies, hymn-like refrains and spherical interludes. The perfect symbiosis of heaviness and harmony, enriched with thrilling elements of Reggae, Ska and Punk. So, the guest appearances of H.R. (Bad Brains) and cult figure Eek-A-Mouse are just the topping on the ice on a truly great album.
