1.Audioslave-Video
by Marcel Anders (04.10.2006) Sometimes you can only wonder. E.g., if guitarist Tom Morello calls the new album with its 12 songs a crosser between Led Zeppelin and Earth, Wind & Fire. Or if singer Chris Cornell claims how much Soul his voice reveals. Because the third album of the ex-Rage Against The Machine- and Soundgarden-members sounds as always: a heavy, intense brew of Funk and Hardrock. With powerful drums, a murderer-groove bass, eccentric guitar solos and an exalted voice. Everything like on the first two Audioslave-records. The lyrics this time oppose the behaviour of the U.S. government with the catastrophe of the hurricane Katrina ("Wide awake"), the war industry ("Sound of a gun") and the political lethargy of the youth today. "The original fire has died and gone", Cornell sings, while in the accompanying video you see pictures of The Clash, Malcolm X, James Brown and Che Guevara. His predecessor, Zack De La Rocha, couldn't have said it any better.
