by Adam Weishaupt (08.04.2010) Floor Jansen had been the songstress of After Forever for twelve years - the band was always just one step away from its breakthrough, leaving us with five classy albums as their legacy. Shortly after the split had been reported, the Dutch beauty announced her new act ReVamp, with songwriting done by herself and (among others) Waldemar Sorychta (ex-Grip Inc.) and her ex- band mate Joost van den Broek. Her powerful soprano is a pleasure to listen to, and ReVamp seems to be the right surrounding for the 29-year old vocalist. Maybe the symphonic songs on this debut still carry the mark of After Forever, like epic "Million" or "In sickness ’till death do us part", but the musical limitations are gone and Floor struts her stuff as well on modern Rock tracks (check out "Head up high" - that's charts material!) as on ultra-catchy "Sweet curse". In a nutshell: Floor Jansen is back, with an impressive album featuring 13 convincing, vivacious, energetic compositions.
