"Reroute to remain" CD by In Flames

by Patrick Schmidt (null) Once again another killer-In Flames-album although the In flames followers have to get aquainted to yet some more changes. To be more precise, the experimental period has started with the release of the "Whoracle" album and ever since that day the Göteborg Metal kings surprise us with rather experimental songs. The opener and title track can be counted as a typical In Flames song and fascinates the listener with a fantastic and melodic chorus. The follower "System" starts off pushing and aggressive and suddenly shifts into an absolutely strange break making singer Anders Friden almost sound a little like David Bowie. Cool! "Drifter" breaks your bloody spine and In Flames demonstrate that they do not have to hide behind bands like The Haunted. An album highlight! Other great moments on the album are the catchy "Trigger" and the beautiful ballad (!) "Dawn of a new day". Real Metal fans won't get around this masterpiece.
