by Adam Weishaupt (08.04.2010) In the nineties, the Norwegians Keep Of Kalessin released two outstanding Black Metal gems which sadly weren't appreciated enough by the public. After a long break, they reported back on the scene 2006 with the awesome "Armada" opus, followed by equally good "Kolossus". Their melodic Black Metal, also influenced by Progressive and Power Metal, is unique and sets them apart from their peers. The quartet participated in the Norwegian preliminary run for the "Eurovision song contest", demonstrating their uncompromising attitude by performing "The dragontower", a straight and striking Metal song. Especially the epic elements turn tracks like sluggish "Dark as moonless night" into Black gems which are part of a totally new unique fantasy universe. Wonderful melodies intertwine with the dark atmosphere and the cold vocals by TorbjΓΆrn Schei. "Reptilian" is a breathtaking album - a soundtrack for darkest legends and fantasy stories.
