Hard, terrifically and without breaks the Rages shoot from climax to climax, among others "Maggie's Farm " from Bob Dylan, "Street Fighting Man" from the Stones, "The Ghost Of Tom Joad" of Springsteen (also appeared as single) and " kick Out The Jams " from the MC5.

But that's exactly what this band split upon: the controversy of radical political activity and profit-oriented Rock-business. Before they turn to new projects (singer Zack wants to work on his solo-career, the rest of the band remains Rage against the Machine), the four Californians make their will: 12 cover versions out of all genres that have influenced them - HipHop, Funk, Hardcore and 60's Rock. So, Afrika Bambaataa stand next to the blessed Stooges, the Rolling Stones next to Minor Threat and Devo beside Cypress Hill. All of them light-years away from each other, but still the musical foundation for every Rage-song: The combination of supposed contraries, the uniting of musical opposition and lyrical deepness. Consequently, "Renegades" is not only a dignified good-bye but also a tribute to their ideological forerunners. Give credit where credit is due.
