by Oliver Kube (29.09.2006) A quantum leap! There is no other way to describe the breathtaking progression which the London-based Razorlight prove on their new album. Their debut album "Up all night" immediately reached platinum status, as high energetic and easy as it was - a killer of a party album! However, also an album that obviously came from young men. Only two years later, singer Johnny Borrell & Co. have grown up. They virtuoso play with the styles and moods, escape the pigeonhole they had been put into - together with colleagues like Snow Patrol or the Kaiser Chiefs. The guys, so it seems, have heard a lot of older music lately. Especially 60s-Pop and Motown sounds - elements of that can be found in songs like the neat, simple piano song "Who needs love", the clever structured "I can't stop this feeling I've got" or the easy rocking "Back to the start". Together with producer Chris E. Thomas (The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Sex Pistols, Pulp), Razorlight recorded a whole album full of great independent Rock hymns.
