by Markus Wosgien (April 2005) Where is says Pro-Pain you can be definitely sure of a high value and explosive content. The New Yorker hardcore legend was 1992 one of the first bands taking metal elements into their sound and beside Agnostic Front and Sick Of it All still is one of the leading combos in their genre. Hardly one year after their last studio album, "Fistful of hate", Gary Meskil and Co. Already return with their new album, "Prophecies of doom", again a heavy iron in best, traditional Pro-Pain manner. Again, they prove to be uncompromising and full of hate which should be the reason why this album followed so soon: "Un-american", "Hate marches on" or "Operation blood for oil" are clearly addressed. Again, the riff blasts come over you leaving rare breaks to rest. Still, they are flexible and uses the whole range, predominantly of course in very aggressive, metallic regions. Ten killers were forged, musically on the same level, as the brilliant "Shreds of dignity" album. Pro-Pain are live and in the studio still a leading force, that is clearly underpinned by their tenth album.
