by Olaf Plotke (null) There are still a couple of musicians in this world that make great music far off the showbiz money-machines. The Norwegian Kari Rueslatten is one of them. Her four solo albums are of a singing/songwriting quality which is hard to find in the entire music business but never got any attention. She might as well still be stuck in the category in which she got pushed into during the time with her former band The 3rd And The Mortal, which prevents her from reaching a bigger crowd. In terms of music Kari Rueslatten is way past the old days and has penetrated entirely new territory. After the acoustic/Folky "Spindelsinn" (1997), and the Pop-oriented "Mesmerized" (1998), "Pilot" is her confession to quieter tunes. Minimalistic music, carefully arranged is an excellent foundation for her beautiful voice. The beauty, the greatness and the clearity of the 12 songs on "Pilot" make you wanna cry. Those who like Aimee Mann and Tori Amos will worship Kari Rueslatten.
