by Sonja Angerer (18.12.2006) For almost one and a half years, the fans had to wait for this, now it is done: Blutengel-singer Constance Rudert recorded her first solo album. Supported by a handful of top studio musicians, she dedicated to pearls of independent rock and interpreted them in her own way. The Type O Negative-classic, "Black No.1", eg. changed from its edgy gloominess into a hugely orchestrated, light serenade. The Civil War hit, "Zombie" from the Cranberries became a moving charge reduced to piano only, and Project Pitchfork's "Timekiller" lost its claustrophobic darkness and almost swings. If the Siouxie & The Banshees-track, "Israel", has turned out even too straight and pop-orientated may be a matter of arguments but the Medieval interpretation of Zam Helga's "Wenn die Liebe ein Engel ist" is beyond any discussion. Greatly done are also "Call the ships to port" (Covenant) and "Standing" (VNV Nation).
