11.Different ways
by Anne-K. Fricke (16.04.2008) With "Past in different ways", the former Helloween shouter releases his fifth solo-album. And as always he is not quite consequent. He has criticized the Metal scene intensively only to do an album that Hard’n’Heavy-fans should at least be pleased with. "Past in different ways" is a journey into the past on which Michael Kiske presents old Helloween-songs in acoustic versions. The opener, "You always walk alone" was originally released on the milestone, "The keeper of the seven keys II". The song is very atmospheric and clearly reveals Kiske’s roots. And it makes clear that such a song also works acoustically. Of course, the vocals are unmistakably and will re-unite all fans of the Hamburger. Also "We got the right", a classic Helloween hymn, convinces in the soft version, too. The fine melodies and Kiske’s impressive and variable vocals are the typical trademarks that will always convince. Great!
