by Jürgen Tschamler (07.10.2007) It was clear that they would build upon the 2004-predecessor album because it was this album with which they not only introduced their new singer but also their future musical direction. Consequently, "Paramount" presents itself quite mellow, very soft and less intricate than "The Art of Navigating by the Stars". Sieges Even tried to deliver a Progressive Rock album on which the endless bricolage are being avoided – and they succeeded with this approach. The songs are demanding, catchy but always accessible. The majority of the material is very calm, less rocking but rather melodic. They did without never-ending, complex songs and put their emphasis on the melodies and still managed to keep up the high composition level. Arno Mense's emotional vocals are clearly the centre of the music. But also the atmospheric, tight, and complex "Mounting castles in the blood red sky" will delight all Progressive Rock fans. "Paramount" is an album that shifts between the genres and convinces with profound songs.
