by Oliver Kube (null) The powerfully grooving opener, "Alone" bursting for great melodies already presents King's X in their heydays. Indeed, "Ogre tones" is the best album of the trio since "Faith hope love" (1990). Songs like the unfortunately much too short hymn, "Stay" or "Hurricane" with its gloomy mood perfectly made for night radio or the beautiful acoustic song, "Honesty" contain all the qualities that made bassist, Doug Pinnick, guitarist Ty Tabor and drummer Jerry Gaskill a cult band. Their solid and still sophisticated sound is as attractive for Progressive fans as for fans of edgy Rock and/or beatlesque harmonies. Absolute highlight of this great album is the song, "Sooner or later". This song proves in seven minutes that this band also in the 21st year of their existence shows no signs of fatigue - the perfect listening tip. On the producer's chair we find the German, Michael Wagener, by the way. Older music fans will remember him for his brilliant work with Dokken, Accept, Skid Row, Extreme or Great White.
