Excellent Service

With two hit albums to their name, Kaiser Chiefs went and did it again: 11 songs influenced by New Wave, Retro Rock and Ska, including the dangerously catchy "Never Miss a Beat") and the Robert Palmer parody ("Addicted to Drugs"). Respect!

    Remember You're A Girl

by Marcel Anders (29.10.2008) Actually the band wanted to take a well-deserved one-year break... Their first albums "Employment" and "Yours truly, angry mob" catapulted vocalist Ricky Wilson & Co. into stardom in the realm of FishΒ΄nΒ΄Chips. Then, they had some big hits ("Ruby", "Oh my god" and "I predict a riot") and filled the big arenas. All holiday plans were cancelled after a short session with star producer Mark Ronson (Amy Winehouse), though. Instead of chilling out, they recorded a full album within two weeks - and this album surpasses even the highest expectations. Starting with the first, extremely catchy single "Never miss a beat", followed by a wide array of stylish Retro Rock, genuine Ska and nervous New Wave, until a parody of Robert Palmer’s "Addicted to love" ("Addicted to drugs"). The Kaiser Chiefs blithely use details and parts from 40 years of music history - they’re influenced by the Kinks, The Who and Gang Of Four, yet, they still sound like themselves.
