10.What Happened
by Matthias Mader (10.04.2008) There are not too many of the classic New York Hardcore-legends left. Bands like Warzone, the Crumbsuckers and Youth Of Today have long stopped their activities. Luckily enough, beside the holy Agnostic Front, Sick Of It All and Pro-Pain also H2O release a new sign of life every few years. "Nothing to prove" is an absolute Melodic-Hardcore-highlight, no doubt about that. The standing that the band still has in the scene can be seen in the fact that with Roger Miret, Lou Koller and even Civ of the Gorilla Biscuits you have three prominent guest singers on the album. Unfortunately, the album contains only ten songs but they are real hitters, like the furious opener, "1995", combining the sound of the Big Apple with the catchiness of the early 7 Seconds. And it goes on with this quality level in "What happened", the Pop-like "Sunday" and the great title track, "Nothing to prove", stamped by the characteristic vocals of Roger Miret.
