by Markus Wosgien (22.10.2008) Draugnim have been active in the Finnish underground for a decade now, they have released numerous demos and have had their share of ups and downs. And now, their last recordings have been so convincing that they have snatched a contract with Finnish talent factory Spinefarm Records and deliver their phenomenal debut "Northwind’s ire". The quartet, fronted by ist leader Morior (guitar/synthesizer), calls itself a Pagan Metal Band, but likes it very spherical (think of an intersection of Bathory and Falkenbach here). The seven monumental tracks, produced by Henri Sorvali (Moonsorrow) are extremely intense and keep you excited all the time: you feel like in the middle of a black dream, surrounded by myths and mysticism. Tracks like the opulent, epic "Moonpath" and the anthem "Sworn of waves" make for goose-bumps - enjoyed with a glass of red wine in a candle-light atmosphere, they work best.
