by Andreas Reissnauer (08.04.2008) Moonspell have gone through quite some metamorphosis. From the Black Metal band of the early 90s to the career highlight as the Dark Metal gods ("Irreligious", 1996), they got lost in too many experiments, with "The antidote" (2003) returned to the genre and with "Memorial" (2006) even dared another step back into the future. Consequently, "Night eternal" is the highlight so far in this development and without any doubt the best Moonspell album in over ten years. The reproach of repetition doesnβt attach simply because the Portuguese have tremendously progressed as musicians and songwriters. No song is like the other, the tracks are catchy and yet, have depth as well as an unbelievably lot of facets that reveal only after several listening sessions. Listening to this album in comparison to "The antidote", the difference in class becomes immediately obvious. Anno 2008, Moonspell are simply more self secure, heavier, braver and far less tame.
