by Poseidon Nutella (11.07.2007) What happens when you put a pinch of Hardcore, Alternative Rock, Folk, Blues, Country, Pop and Punk together in a pot, garnish all that with good song writing and finally serve it with political lyrics. Well, just hear it: the new album of Against Me, "New wave". Tom Gabel (guitar, vocals) really knows how to compose songs and not lose any of the reliability that made Against Me so big. "White people for peace" is such an example. Edgy and defiant, "Piss and vinegar" rushes out of the speakers, while "Borne on the FM waves" appears like a soft breeze and still decisively comes upon us. In "Up the cuts", I first thought of a new Beatsteaks song. The whole album is a single joyride for the guitar oientated sound community. Very well done. In fact, it was only a matter of time that Against Me would be offered a major label deal, now and with "New wave", they release their masterpiece so far.
