by Olaf Plotke (19.01.2007) Most of the times when Metal bands devote to the Vikings the result is kitschy hero bombast with electric guitars. Not so in case of Rebellion and their musical heads, Uwe Lulis and Tomi Göttlich. They had already been responsible for the demanding topics in Grave Digger and since 2002 with their new band go even deeper. In 2005, they started to dig the history of the Vikings with the first part of what is supposed to become a trilogy. Everything was meticulously investigated and transformed into a detailed, thrilling Metal album. While part 1 dealt with the Western expansion of the Vikings, "Miklagard - The history of the Vikings II" now devotes to the Eastern conquests and voyages of discovery. In 11 breathtaking songs, the listener digs into the fascinating, ancient world over 60 minutes and is part of a journey to the legendary Miklagard, today Istanbul. A concept album of the extraordinary kind. And one Viking is on board, too: Charles Rytkönen of Morgana Lefay sings the introduction. In Swedish!
