by Matthias Mineur (July 2004) For Ronnie James Dio is it is surely no easy job to create new song material living up to the high level of more than 30 years and its countless hard rock classics. Maybe that's the reason why he came back to guitarist Craig Goldy at his side who already participated on the two records, 'Dream Evil' and 'Magica'. Goldy plays that kind of guitar that Dio needs for his emotional voice and that is expected by his fans. On 'Master Of The Moon', Goldy did not only play guitar but also had a massive input in the writing of the songs. The result is an album that is written for Ronnie's voice but that is very guitar-orientated and that incorporates some a modern riff-variant. That could be the reason why it takes some time until the spark ignites - but then it burns hot again in the Dio fanbase! (Matthias Mineur - July 2004)
