by Matthias Mader (21.07.2008) That would be a great question for a quiz: tell me as many internationally successful Spanish rock bands as possible. Um, not many come to my mind... Sure, Baron Rojo played arenas at the beginning of the 80s, and Heroes del Silencio had an internationally mega selling single. But that was it. Now, with the support of a deal with Roadrunner, Soziedad Alkoholika (existing since 1990) want to take on the global market. In Spain, they’re anything but a secret tip any more, their first 8 studio albums sold 350.000 units. "Mala sangre" ("Bad blood") should add some additional thousands. Chances are that this will work out - with tracks like "Sangre al fin" or "Direction propia" (produced by Tue Madsen, btw), Soziedad Alkoholika give current trends the finger and deliver a nice old school Hardcore/Thrash opus. "Mala sangre" sounds like a cross of S.O.D., Sick Of It All and Ratos de Porao.
