by Lothar Landt (06.09.2007) After AC/DC and Rose Tattoo, now Maeder delight us with first class Rock’n’Roll from down under. Named after their two founding members, Nicholas (vocals/guitar) and Sebastian Maeder (guitar), they may be a bit softer than the mentioned guarantees for quality but at the end of the day, the quartet really lets it rock. "Never last" is based on a simple riff and is kept rather slow. But the following "Another thing comin’" (no Judas Priest-cover) is a true killer and a real hit. The riff reminds me a bit of the "Powerage"-phase, still the song is beautifully unique. Top! "Business in me" is a fine riff-orientated rocker with a great guitar solo. "You’re a freak" is greatly aggressive. Singer Nicholas has the right gutter-voice for this kind of Rock’n’Roll and sings/screams his soul out. Energy- and emotion-level are very convincing so that for me, Maeder are a true surprise. If you love pure Rock’n’Roll you shouln’t be missing this album!
