by Markus Eck (23.01.2008) Keyboardist Martijn Westerholt, who had to leave Within Temptation in 2001 for healthy reasons, returns with his new project, Delain. Over the years, Westerholt had written enough songs that he now recorded for this album with skilful musicians and vocalists. The result is some enthusiastic, dreamy Gothic Metal of highly aesthetical nature. The talented singer, Charlotte Wessels, is supported by a number in choir-like vocal lines which is a guarantee for plenty of uplifting moments. Also on board are, e.g., Marko Hietala from Nightwish, Sharon den Adel from Within Temptation, Liv Kristine from Leaves' Eyes and the ex-Ancient Rites- and Lacrimosa-guitarist, Jan Yrlund. Even Ad Sluyter from Epica can be heard on this album. Delain is being completed by ex-musicians of Orphanage as well as Arien van Weesenbeek, also known as the drummer of God Dethroned.
