15.Back to the start
by Christian Bezdekovsky (null) After a break of 3 years, Venera have come together again and with "Losing weight, gaining ground" recorded an album that should even impress their Melodic Hardcore colleagues at Burning Heart or also Epitaph. Contrary to their predecessor "Both ends burning", Vendera have with Anden a second singer who further enhances this album in resprect of vitality and diversity. No matter if finest Skatecore hammers, like "For the present" or "Tabula rasa" or also a little slower rocking songs with catchy refrains ("A pat on the back", "Road to never"), this albums features it all. So, if you prefer those older No Use For Or A NameE-albums and bands like the Satanic Surfers you should mark this album. However, one last thing: the guitar-riff of "Stylefree" has some surprising parallels to Lagwagon's "Give it back", hasn't it?! Anyway, this album deserves a big recommendation!
