by Björn Thorsten Jaschinski (13.06.2008) A short while ago, the Norwegian has aroused high interest with his terrific, yet much too short performance at Rock Hard festival during which he also presented two new songs: the title track, predestined for a tour with Whitesnake and Y&T , and "War of the world", with a sing along part equal to Iron Maiden's "Fear of the dark". Since his solo debut which was a bit cheesy and meek, this man's voice has captured the hearts of the Hardrock and Melodic Metal community like no other. He manages more than ever to convey that Blues edge (which his favourite cover songs have) to his own compositions, as in rompy "Night city". Generally, the album is more powerful and gloomier ("The inner road", the gloomy end epic "Hellfire") than former outputs from the Duke of Love, even regarding his voice, although he's not quite the inquisitorial character he played in Nikolo Kotzev's Rock opera "Nostradamus". Brave, yes - but he won't suffer from loneliness. Permission to Land(e)!
