by Matthias Mineur (05.10.2006) David Coverdale had long decided that he wouldn't want to record any more studio albums. He's been frustrated of record companies for too long, has suffered the business side of music for too long. Then he formed a new Whitesnake line-up in order to at least be present on stage to hold up the flag. The result: Coverdale's lust for a new chapter of the band has returned. A big share in this had the fabulous Doug Aldrich, who followed great guitarists like Moody, Marsden, Sykes, Vai and Vandenberg. With Aldrich at his side, Coverdale did not only record the new double album, "Live … In the shadow of the Blues", but also recorded 4 brandnew songs that were added as studio versions increasing the anticipation for more highlights to come. So what is the bigger sensation? Whitesnake on stage with all their classics? Or the four unreleased songs? Both actually because this formation is one of the few Rock bands convincing in either situation!
