by Matthias Mader (03.04.2007) You cannot stop the Psychobilly genre. Quiff and jeans have long proven that their half life is (at least) as long as that of Iroquois and studded leather jackets. Meanwhile, for the old heroes, like Stray Cats, The Cramps and the godfathers of this movement, The Meteors, young acts have come into place to keep up the spirit of the originals. The most originally and commercially most successful ones among them are the guys of Nekromantix, who with "Life is a grave & I dig it!" release a delayed Halloween trick. "Panic at the morgue", "Out comes the batz" and "Horny in a hearse" - songs like that are what the little Glenn Danzig would have murdered for. "A 1950's date with Motörhead" was an early name for the sound of Nekromantix, well, meanwhile, on the new album, the Danes appear much more relaxed and less heavy, yet on the same quality level. Today, I would call these 13 songs Easy-Listening-Psychobilly - the perfect soundtrack for the films of Jörg Buttgereit.
