by Markus Eck (29.04.2009) On his peppy debut upbeat debut album "Evige asatro" and the following mini album "Til dovre faller", Norwegian TorbjΓΈrn Sandvik was able to express musically his deep personal relatedness to Scandinavian cuture and tradition. His lively and pulsating mixture of Punk, Hardcore, Folklore and Viking Metal has changed on this new studio album, "Landkjenning", and is a calmer and more epic version of Viking Metal. Meaning the current compositions by Glittertind remind me of Tyr and their sophisticated sound conception a lot. With the help of new bass man Geirmund Simonsen and various guest musicians, the elaborate Folk Metal songs on "Landkjenning" were recorded. They used historical Nordic instruments for the recordings, making for a wonderful authentic sound. The lyrics are a trip back in time - they deal with the Christianisation of Norway, 1000 years ago.
