by Matthias Mader (20.09.2007) "If you like music that begins with Johnny Cash and ZZ Top and doesn't stop with Slipknot you'll end making music like we do." Say Krieger. Krieger combine German lyrics, Blues and Metal. That may sound constructed on the paper but already after the first few chords of their opening battle call, "Krieger", all doubts are wiped away. As hard as it crosses my lips: these guys around singer Thomas Baumgärtel are the missing music historical link between AC/DC and Rose Tattoo on the one side and Rammstein and the Böhsen Onkelz on the other. Fortunately, Krieger have nothing to do with the lyrical pathos of the latter two, and even a song like "Heimat" doesn't turn out to be what you might have expected. And as if completely accidentally, both Krieger and Rammstein have the same management/record label (Pilgrim/Motor Music). So, despite all restraints: Krieger have definitely the guts to be the next-big-thing after Rammstein – especially because they already have the right promotion tools in their back!
