by Andreas Reissnauer (21.04.2008) Black Metal from Kiel, Germany, that reminds me of…, yes: Endstille! Aeba now is another band from the city at the Eastern Sea to rock the black hordes. Aeba are a bit more melodic, though, and have not completely devoted to Black Metal, only. Also if the image may suggest something else, the quintet incorporates influences of traditional Heavy Metal, too. And not all that comes from the guitars is rattling, Aeba also use pumping riffs in their songs. Of course, Aeba are still deeply rooted in Black Metal, the scream vocals, the gloomy atmosphere and many passages that may be called Marduk-inspired leave no other conclusion. But it’s nice to see that the band doesn’t limit itself and rather rocks with open eyes and ears. A good Black Metal album above the average that will surely appeal to many genre fans.
