by Jürgen Tschamler (20.01.2008) Death Angel made us wait a long time for the successor to "The art of dying". More than three years have passed since that masterpiece but, hey, it was worth the wait! Every minute of "Killing season" shows more than clearly that Death Angel is an absolutely exceptional band. Overboarding playfulness, unusual song structures, razor sharp riffs and the unmistakable vocals of frontman, Mark Osegueda stamp another classic of the band. They incorporate the band-typical trademarks, still they haven't repeated themselves but skilfully combine the Death Angel of the early 90s with the playfulness of "The art of dying" in a very sovereign way, further pimping up the whole with killer riffs. Calling this band a pure Thrash Metal band would be fatal, they are much too innovative. Just listen to "God vs. God", "Steal the crown" or the fast "Carnival justice" – Enthusiasm and heaviness combine for magic moments. Death Angel make clear again who is the innovative might in the Bay Area!
