by Matthias Mineur (05/01) If you have been excited about "The fourth legacy" you will immediately love "Karma", too. Because Kamelot, the band around the American guitarist Thomas Youngblood and Ex-Conception front-man Roy S. Khan, sets forth the directives of the predecessor without repeating or copying themselves. In collaboration with the German Metal forge "Gate Studio", especially in persona Sascha Paeth and Miro, who have also helped the works of Angra or Rhapsody to be as successful as they have been, the band have achieved an extremely packed and wel produced opus on the threshold between Power Metal, Prog Rock and classical elements. Comparisons with Saga are obvious alone through the voice of Khan bearing a resemblance to that of Michael Sadler. Yet, still "Karma" has a doubtless uniqueness. Centre of the album is the trilogy "Elisabeth", dealing with the Rumanian Erzebeth Bathori, a serial killer of the 14th century who let children be killed to bade in their blood for eternal youth. Here, Kamelot excel the pure songwriting and become representatives of audio-visual sagas. Great!
