by Oliver Kube (16.04.2008) The festival season is coming up and, of course, with The Beatsteaks, one of the best and most favourite German bands is preparing for it, too. The best way to warm up for what is about to follow probably is this release. According to the band, "Kanonen auf Spatzen" is not only the first Live-double-CD of the Berlin-based band but it will also remain the only one. So it’s no wonder that the quintet did their very best. The 28 songs were recorded in several places on the last, sold-out 2007-tour. Beside enthusiastic interpretations of all their hits, like "I don’t care as long as you sing", "Demons galore", "Hand in hand" and "Let me in", they have some surprise in store, too. The cover version of the Beastie-Boys-hit, "Sabotage", for example. As a bonus (and probably not only for all those who were there this is even the main reason for this package) the album is enhanced by a video-DVD featuring almost the complete gig of the guys on the Berlin Wuhlheide in July last year, the biggest headliner-show of the Beatsteaks ever. An incredible package!
