by Björn Thorsten Jaschinski (08.04.2010) The intro "Downfall" starts off with undistorted guitars, developing into a fully instrumented, more and more saturnine composition - but that's only the calm before the storm, as is "Arise from the decay", still holding back the horses a bit, demonstrating that the Germans have spiced their hefty Thrash with more melody on this eighth album. "Condemnation" is an epitome of great guitar leads and soli with a slight Death Metal influence. It's about time we consider these stalwart blokes a class of their own and skip these tiring comparisons to other genre peers. Dew-Scented master all variations of Thrash, be it heavy mid-tempo ("Global hyteria") or intoxicating groove ("Artificial life") - but after a quick stint of both at the beginnings of their songs, they thrive on the fast lane. 2009 was a great year for Thrash - 2010 looks promising, too!
