by Andreas Reissnauer (23.01.2008) Six years are a long time. A too long time span for a band to be preparing for a new album, really (at least in case they are NOT Metallica). The quintet from MΓΌnster, Germany, had to deal with many problems. Yet, they used this time, too, because "Inner exile" is an excellent album. The Melodic Death Metal of the quintet is very matured and skilled, the longer work on the songs definitely pays off. At the same time, the feeling never drowned underway, as is proved by such catchy, and yet, profound, emotional hits, like "Corroded by fear" and "Nothing is lost". Especially the melodic lead guitars add some exclamation marks. Singer Gerrit Mohr adds his beautifully suffering voice dealing with the insufficiencies of life. Melodic Death Metal following the trails of Dark Tranquillity and an album that every genre fan should check out. I can only hope that with "Inner exile", Mourning Caress harvest the success they deserve!
